Its in my rear view mirror, but what about friends?

Well, I have been quite busy. What with buying a new place, running for my first real office, negotiating an amicable divorce and working on a video in conjunction with SUNY Stonybrook on my experiences leaving the JWs, I have a very full and satisfying life right now. It is truly amazing how quickly the JW experience is receding in my rear view mirror. There are so many good people in my life and in the world at large that while I miss my friends in the religion, and even keep in limited sporadic contact with them, I don't yearn for their company anymore. It is truly sad that some of my best friends, some of whom were even in my wedding do not call me anymore, but who knows what will happen as time goes by. The fact is that they may reestablish contact when the JW religion screws them over as it does all of its members.

A JW has little in his or her future other than more tract and leaflet distribution, more meetings and other devotional activities. There is no Paradise for them, no Armageddon to clear out all of their woes in spite of all of their hopes to the contrary. They stand to face a ruining of their health through overwork for the religion, with little time left over for leisure or even time with their families that does not involve the religion in some way. So being that I have been public about all of this, and I have never been rude to any of them who knows, I may well get some communication with them in the future and hopefully we can pick up where we left off.

Here is to hoping and to old friends,

Isaac
